Man had knife in supermarket
A 20-year-old Pembroke man has admitted carrying a four-inch knife into the MarketPlace, on Church Street.Mikhail Butterfield, of Sea Gull Lane, was charged in Magistrates’ Court with possession of a bladed article.He admitted carrying the steak knife but denied it was intended for use as a weapon.Crown counsel Nicole Smith said police were called to the Hamilton grocery store by manager William Abel at 9.30pm on March 5.They arrived and found other officers holding Butterfield in an office. A search uncovered the knife in his front left pocket.Butterfield was arrested, and admitted under interview at Hamilton Police Station that the knife was his, but told police it was for scaling fish.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered a social inquiry report, and remanded Butterfield back into custody until April 21.
