More people are seeking help – Family Centre director
The Family Centre is seeing twice the amount of families in crisis than it was just a few years ago, said director Martha Dismont.
The charity provided "urgent support" to 218 families in 2009.
According to Mrs. Dismont, their challenges arose out of conflicts with parents, behavioural problems, abuse and neglect.
The charity is to hold a tag day later this month as part of fund-raising efforts to ensure its continued support.
"We are reaching out to all of Bermuda with more services in more locations. We need Bermudians to reach back to us with their support so we can keep up with the huge demand for help in our small community.
"We are preventing problems by working with other groups of children and families in the community but we need everyone in Bermuda to reach back to Family Centre and support our cause," Mrs. Dismont said.
Capital G is the main sponsor for the tag day. Volunteers will be at various banks with the ribbons on July 28.
President John Kephart said: "Every one of us were children once. We all know how it is to be well cared for as a child. The Family Centre is focused on making sure families are functioning and working. It's such an important role.
"Money and economics impact families so we at Capital G couldn't be more pleased to be involved in this organisation. As a family-owned company, this is how we're investing in this community because a healthy, vital youth in Bermuda makes a healthy, vital adult 15 years from now."
Other sponsors include the MarketPlace stores, Dunkley's Dairy, FKB, Transact, eMoo, and Bermuda CableVision.
