Pasta is not only tasty but it's also extremely healthy

Most people have been bitten by the fitness bug. And Pasta Pasta can offer the perfect fare to go with all that exercise.

Contrary to popular opinion, pasta does not equal an expanding waistline.

"It is low in fat and sodium, and high in carbohydrates,'' explains head chef Herr. Uwe Lipfert.

To ram the message home, a special "weight watching'' dish is on the menu.

It features whole wheat pasta with tomato and cauliflower.

Not that everyone makes trimming the pounds the number one priority.

Many people fall for pasta for one reason. It just tastes so good! And when a restaurant can provide that little something to spice up the dishes so much the better.

That is exactly what Pasta Pasta does, thanks to the creative talents of its energetic and youthful cooks.

Perhaps their international experience helps.

For instance, Herr. Lipfert sometimes uses curry to provide a refreshing new flavour.

"We like to incorporate an Indian touch because occasionally the general public go for more exotic things.'' But don't worry, all you traditionalists.

For nothing is done at Pasta Pasta without the customer's express nod of approval.

And if your palate prefers all things familiar Pasta Pasta is still the ideal place.

There seems to be plenty of people in this category. For them spaghetti with meatballs remains a firm favourite.

"That is the most popular meal without doubt,'' says hostess Miss Christa DeSilva.

Fettucine Pasta Pasta Special, complete with cheese, cream and mushrooms, also goes down very well, while other diners plump for orecchiette with beef, onion, yellow squash, bell peppers, zucchini and eggplant.

Many others, however, find rigatoni with cheese sauce more to their liking, or fusilli with pork, onion, black and green oregano and garlic.

Miss DeSilva is keen to point to the baked dishes as well.

"We do an excellent meat lasagne, and also offer vegetable lasagna,'' she says.

And, of course, there is the dish of the day.

"That changes every day. We like to continually offer a different menu,'' Miss DeSilva comments.

One of Pasta Pasta's proud boasts is that a customer's favourite dish can be created -- even if it's not on the menu.

The chefs have the culinary know-how to create virtually anything to please.

For those concerned about their wallet, don't worry.

Buying a pasta dish shouldn't empty your bank account. At $8.50 the price is very affordable, and complementing the meal with garlic bread will cost only an extra $1.

Naturally, you need not dip so deep into your pocket for a salad dish. A mixed green salad or a Caesar's costs just $4.50.

Says Miss DeSilva: "We provide four different types of dressing -- French, Italian, blue cheese, and Caesar's.

"We find a lot of people coming in just for salad. It's extremely healthy, of course.'' HOT STUFF -- Chefs Syras Bharucha (left) and Naveen Chitravanshi display their culinary wizardry.
