Queen's end tour on high note

Queen's University of Kingston, Ontario, ended their three-game tour of Bermuda on a high note yesterday when they won their second consecutive game.

Once again the team was led by spunky Steve Pettigrew, who accounted for a pair of tries for the visitors. Gord Davis scored the third try for Queen's.

Pat Jones was the only Select player to get on the scoreboard, scoring a try and later connecting on a penalty kick.

"They really had killer instinct,'' team captain Ali Nicoll said last night.

Queen's dropped their opening game against Bermuda's national squad 32-10 on Sunday, but bounced back on Tuesday against a Second Team Select to win 43-0.

The team returns to Canada tomorrow.

The USA Eagles, due here on March 12 for a World Cup qualifier, are in disarray after three of their players were prevented from making the trip because of exams.

One of the players, lock Chris Campbell, has quit Life Chiropractic College in Atlanta so that he can make the trip. Two others -- prop Jimmy Johnson and flanker Michael Siano -- will not be playing in Bermuda.
