Lions hold Village

A brace from Paget?s Travis Wilkinson helped them secure a surprise draw against triple crown winners North Village at White Hill Field yesterday.

The goals from the dynamic Wilkinson were complemented by a solitary strike from Dwyer Blyden, though two goals from Ralph Bean jr ? the second from the penalty spot ? and one from playmaker Keith Jennings meant a point apiece.

Of more immediate concern to both North Village and national team coaches Kyle Lightbourne and Paul Scope will be the news that Jennings finished the match with considerable pain in his back and lay on the ground for a good 15 minutes before an ambulance arrived to take him to the hospital.

Somerset Trojans 2 PHC 1

A Kyle Lightbourne strike proved not enough to inspire PHC in the West End on Saturday night as Somerset Trojans overcame the visitors by two goals to one.

The victory, courtesy of goals from Jelani Scott and Dion Stovell ? the latter with only five minutes of the contest remaining ? lifted Trojans from fifth to third in the table, equal on points with Boulevard but with an inferior goal difference.

PHC, by contrast, slip from sixth to seventh in the table and will have to produce something special in the second half of the season if they are to avoid the ignominy of relegation.
