Rodney Trott looks set to continue serving in the dual capacity as player/coach of Young Men’s Social Club during the upcoming season.The top all-rounder was loaned out to Bailey’s Bay until the end of the 2011 campaign after a player shortage forced Social Club to withdraw from the Premier Division following a string of heavy defeats.But the Pembroke club has vowed to make a strong comeback in the First Division this year, with Trott playing an integral role recruiting fresh blood and urging those already signed to rally for the cause behind the scenes.Among those players that have already committed themselves for the upcoming season are stalwarts Jahmiko Marshall, Dwayne Adams and Jeff Tyrell while former Willow Cuts batsman Gladwin Edness and Dennis Zuill are contemplating playing for Social Club this summer.Trott will be assisted this year by former club coach and skipper Charlie Marshall who also plans to suit up next season.“Last year I basically allowed Rodney to coach and captain the team and so forth,” Marshall said. “But I think he needs some assistance and that’s one of the reasons I was asked by the president (Fred Lewis) to assist to make sure the programme gets back rolling.”As well as getting the club’s senior program back up and running, placing more emphasis at the grassroots level will also be a top priority at Social Club this year.If successful, Marshall hopes to see the club represented in various age groups in Bermuda Cricket Board’s (BCB) youth leagues.“Our main focus this year is to try and encourage as many young players as possible to come and get involved in the programme,” he added. “We are looking to have three youth programs this year.”Marshall has invited cricketers of various ages to attend a special meeting to be held at Social Club today beginning at 6.30pm.“We have scheduled the meeting so management and players can finalise a few things,” he said. “So hopefully we can have as many players come to the meeting and play for us next season to help us get this program back rolling.“We have 120 percent support from the club who want to see the numbers attend the meeting. We are inviting players from the age five to 65 to play for our senior and youth teams next season to help the club get its cricket programme back rolling.”
