Following a loss against Somerset to start off the year, Dream Team rattled off 11 victories in a row for an 11-1 record overall. They overhauled early pace setters Tucker's Tees by mid-season and never looked back. Tees (9-3) wound up in a tie for second with Young Guns (9-3).

Meanwhile Somerset Rebels had a similar record to capture the Western Division crown over Metro (9-3), who rebounded from a disastrous start. Cablevision (7-5) were inconsistent throughout in their play, hence their third place position.

The play-offs are currently underway in a single elimination format. In games played on Wednesday, Young Guns defeated St. George's Express 52-35, Cablevision manhandled Warwick Academy 83-40 and Bratt Pack likewise took an early exit, not bothering to show up for their match with Bank of Bermuda.

It appears a mere formality that Dream Team and Somerset will meet in the final for all the `marbles'. However, unlike in the east where there is Dream Team and then a long list of pretenders, Somerset has a legitimate challenger in Metro, who have shown brilliant form of late.

SNOOKER SNO National Sports Club are assured of a share of the title at least following their 4-3 victory over Old Colony Club with two weeks of the season remaining.

They now have 40 game wins to their credit, while closest rivals OCC and Queens Club I each have 27.

All Nationals have to do to retain the title they won last year is to win a single game in their remaining two match-ups.

Stephen Pantry was the star for Nationals this week, taking two frames from Tojo Philpott. Paul Charleton and Mike Tatem also picked up points.

OCC's Brian Haxton scored a league-leading third high break point with a 24.

Queens Club I won a hard fought battle with Police, taking the match 4-3.

Sticks Henderson ran the coloured balls in the last game to go 1-1 with Andy Wright. Gary Skinner was adouble winner for Queens while Greg Falzone went 1-1 against Darren Hall.

Nick Mansell scored a hat-trick in leading Queens II to a 5-2 win over the Dream Team. Mansell's break was a 20. Fred Smith and Stan Fearis scored the Dream Team's two points as they split with Ed Gumbs and Glenn Flood.

SOFTBALL SOF PCC Royals moved a step closer to the women's fast-pitch championship on the basis of a 7-2 triumph over Somerset Bridge Eaglettes, while Kempe and Whittle, PM, Snowballs and Flying Chefs each all won in regular slowpitch league play.

Kempe and Whittle edged Continental Casualties 5-4; PM blasted Tucker's Tees 18-5 and then downed Casualties the next night 19-18. Chefs beat Athletics by the narrowest of margins 11-10.
