Mad Hatters launches new tapas service
Best of Bermuda winner Mad Hatters Restaurant has opened a new tapas service to meet growing demand from regular customers.
The restaurant in the heart of Hamilton’s financial district will now be offering a variety of wines accompanied by a selection of light bites plucked fresh from the chefs imagination between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings at its terrace bar.
Head Chef Ben Jewett has just won an award in the Bermudian Magazine for “Most Imaginative Menu” for the dinner menu offered at the Richmond Road eatery.
And his tapas menu boasts the same flare offering Malpeque Oysters’ with red chili sorbet, Jack Daniels glazed BBQ sauce pork and pineapple kebabs, flambe margarita shrimp and wild mushroom strudel with arugula and walnut dressing
The magazine gave the award to Mr. Jewett’s restaurant because it has “great home-style cooling combined with fun and frolic makes an evening at Mad Hatters a superb night out”.
Owner Mark Turner said a number of customers had asked if they were open after work and he saw a demand from people who want to come from the office, have a glass of wine and something to eat to tide them over before supper.
Moreover, he said because their terrace was not on the road side it differed from others offering small plate menus as it was relaxing and private.
The restaurant has its own website http://madhatters.01.free.bm/ and operates a policy of not adding the usual 15 percent gratuity automatically to bills for parties under eight people, thereby allowing customers to use their discretion when tipping.
