The Bermuda Post Office is now offering the latest messaging security and electronic document tools as part of its RPost, registered e-mail service.

The technology was first introduced in 2010 when the BPO formed a partnership with RPost, the inventors of the patented registered e-mail technology, to offer businesses and Government employees the opportunity to send registered e-mail messages to track and prove official, time dependent, or confidential electronic correspondence. These registered e-mail services provide legally valid, time stamped evidence of sending content, opening and delivery of electronic messages to anyone, securely.

At a press conference this morning, National Security Minister Michael Dunkley said that the second phase of the service provided “ an expanded set of secure messaging and e-document services that provide individuals and organisations the ability to track, prove, e-sign, and encrypt important messages and documents”.

“In brief, RMail is a unique, integrated platform of messaging security and e-document tools that have been granted more than 50 patents worldwide,” Mr Dunkley said.

“This technology will permit local citizens and businesses, as well as international organisations to do more business faster, at less cost, with legal enforceability and more security. Importantly, this initiative will also showcase to the international community that their operations in Bermuda are only a click away; and the Bermuda Government is serious about reducing administrative time and cost, and reducing the risk of information leaks. This Phase 2 RMail initiative will strengthen the image of Bermuda as being open for e-business.”

An RPost senior technology executive is in Bermuda this week to present a series of workshops to educate users as to how, when, and why to use RMail.
