Abir launches new website

The body representing the regulatory interests of the Island?s biggest insurers and reinsurers has finally moved onto the Internet with the launch of a website.

The Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers formed under a different name more than a decade ago, but it was only in the last year that it hired professional staff who were able to finally take Abir to the Internet.

Abir?s primary mandate is to represent the public policy interests of Bermuda?s Class 4 insurers and reinsurers ? a class subject to the highest capital requirements and stringent solvency regulation requirements consistent with international solvency regulation standards.

As such, the main goal of the site, www.abir.bm is to communicate information on public policy issues with policymakers in Europe, Bermuda and the United States, according to Bradley L. Kading, ABIR president and executive director.

Abir counts 22 of Bermuda?s major international insurers and reinsurers as its members.
