Voters register ready

Pembroke West voters can now check the voters' register and have until January 28 to object to names that should not be on the list.

Parliamentary Registrar Lionel Dowling is urging members of the constituency to check the list carefully for inaccuracies or omissions.

The register, which will be used for the constituency's upcoming by-election, is on display at Point Mart, Cox's Hill and at M. Soares &Son Grocery in Spanish Point, as well as post offices, police stations, Government Information Services and the office of the Parliamentary Registrar. After Monday a revised list will be published.

The number of Pembroke West has grown significantly - from 1,655 at last count to just over 1,700 now.
