A world-famous organist will be appearing in Bermuda next month at the request of his long-time friend and music enthusiast, Airport general manager James Howes.

Fred Swann, who performs during the weekly "Hour of Power" TV programme from the Crystal Cathedral will play at St. Paul's Anglican Church on Sunday, October 24 at 7.30 p.m.

"It is a rare treat to hear Mr. Swann in person and I'm delighted to arrange his concert here in Bermuda. I've known Fred for over 30 years, going back to when I sang professionally at New York's Riverside Church in the 1970s where he was an organist at the time. So it has long been an aspiration of mine to arrange for his appearance in Bermuda," he added.

Mr. Howes hosts a two-hour weekly radio and Internet show in the US, "Sacred Classics", that is sponsoring Mr. Swann's appearance.

The concert will be recorded for a future broadcast.

"Fred Swann is probably the most famous organist of our time and is familiar to millions of viewers who have seen him on the weekly 'Hour of Power' TV programme," Mr. Howes said. Mr. Swann has recorded CDs and performed throughout Europe and North America.
