Premier Paula Cox wore a striking green outfit and statement hat for the Throne Speech.

The Throne Speech provided Government with a platform to outline its plans — and gave MPs from both parties the chance to prove their fashion credibility too. There was a parade of eye-catching hats, ties and waistcoats as Bermuda's elected representatives gathered for the event.Leading the style stakes as well as the country, Premier Paula Cox was the centre of attention in an eye-catching glittery green jacket and matching statement hat. Many of her PLP colleagues showed party loyalty by wearing green — from Government whip Lovitta Foggo's teal ensemble to Marc Bean and Walter Roban's ties. The OBA and UBP representatives also made sure they were not overlooked. It was impossible to miss Shadow Transport Minister Patricia Gordon Pamplin's silver suit and enormous orange hat.Mark Pettingill of the OBA went the traditional route with a red waistcoat and tailcoat, while Kim Swan and Charlie Swan of the United Bermuda Party also opted for traditional top hat and tails. While barbs have been exchanged in recent years over the lack of gold in the Government coffers, MPs were happy to flaunt it on their outfits. Among those glistening in various shades of gold were Dale Butler, Wayne Furbert and Donte Hunt, who opted for the rich colour on their ties.Beating them all, however, was veteran Opposition MP Louise Jackson, who made sure to stand out from the crowd by wearing a gold suit.

There was a variety of styles on show from members of the House of Assembly as they proceeded to the Cabinet Office yesterday morning for the Throne Speech.
