Michael Jackson impersonator won’t be ‘Bad’ at Immigration this time

Last time he came he was almost send back to the US because he did not have the required paperwork, but Tourism Minister Wayne Furbert stepped in to ensure he could fulfill his private party engagement.

A Michael Jackson impersonator who was detained by Immigration last time he visited Bermuda will return to perform at a free concert on Saturday.MJX will entertain tourists and locals at Bermuda Nights in Barrs’s Bay Park, Hamilton.The Royal Gazette reported last month how the performer who never reveals his real name was left “in shock” after being detained for not having a work permit.He’d been booked to perform at a private birthday party at the Elbow Beach Hotel. However, he was put in custody for several hours because the party organiser did not realise he needed a work permit.MJX was rescued by Minister of Tourism Wayne Furbert, who made arrangements for him to be released so the party could go ahead.The impersonator, from New Jersey, has featured on various US TV shows including TLC’s ‘Four Weddings’ and Bravo’s ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’. He resembles the late Michael Jackson, whose hit records include ‘Thriller’ and ‘Bad’.This week, Mr Furbert revealed he is coming back to Bermuda and this time all the paperwork is in order.According to Marie Genovese, the co-ordinator for MJX, he is “honoured and pleased to be able to return to Bermuda for this performance”.She added: “We are sure it will be a positive experience. “Bermuda Nights starts at 8pm, and MJX is due on stage at 10pm for a 30 minute performance.l Useful websites: www.mjxpressions.com, www.gotobermuda.com.
