A quantity of used cheques were taken from Specialty Products' office at Wellbottom, Southampton. They were later found abandoned on the Belmont Golf Course.

Meanwhile, quantities of cash were stolen from a home on Euclid Avenue in Pembroke, the Outdoor Living Centre and the Works and Engineering offices in the Government Administration Building.

And thieves stole a $1,400 Sharp television and video combination set from Saltus Grammar School.

But nothing was taken from the offices of the Bermuda Hotel Association which were ransacked by thieves who broke a window. The window of the King Henry VII restaurant was also broken by thieves who left empty handed after searching the office.

Crime Prevention Unit Sgt. Chris Wilcox said businesses should ensure their premises are as secure as possible and that they avoid a build up of cash takings as the Christmas season is the prime season for opportunistic thieves.

In other Police news, the Riddells Bay Service station in Southampton reported the theft of $2 worth of gas on Monday afternoon.

An employee pumped the gas into the culprit's bike who then rode off without paying for it.

The Police have a description of the bike rider and are investigating the matter.
