Glad to help: Cedarbridge students studying American history met with Premier Dr. Ewart Brown at the Cabinet Building yesterday. The S3 pupils are off to Washington to witness the inauguration of president-elect Obama. The Premeir and his wife graciously donated $3500 of personal finances, which matches a government donation of the same amount.

Premier Dr. Ewart Brown has been advised not to attend President-elect Barack Obama's swearing in ceremony.

"All heads of Government and heads of state have been advised from the State Department to watch the swearing in of the new President from a secure location as a security precaution," said US Consul General Gregory Slayton.

He added: "This was advised to the Premier who graciously accepted the suggestion – we don't want any one to be injured."

Press secretary Glenn Jones said: "The inauguration day is a multi-day process. The Premier had tickets for the event and intended on going but decided not to go based on the State Department's advice. He will, however, still take part in other events, scheduled during that time."

President-elect Obama is set to be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States next Tuesday in Washington D.C.

Making history, he will also be the first ever African-American President.
