The high cost of shipping
August 20, 2012Dear Sir,After failing to locate a replacement pair of lightweight garden clippers during several visits to our local hardware stores I was forced to purchase a new pair of clippers online. It just so happens that the company that I selected the clippers from do not ship outside of the United States so I elected to used my Mailboxes Unlimited’s US address in order to get the clippers here to Bermuda. I was excited when I received the call from a Mailboxes Unlimited rep who advised that my package had arrived in Bermuda. However, as soon as I collected my package from Mailboxes Unlimited I was instantly reminded why I have used their services so infrequently since opening up my account with them many years ago. They charged me $46.99 for an item that cost $19.80 which equates to 237 percent over and above the original cost.Clippers: Cost: $19.80; Weight: 3lbs; Dimensions: 23 x 5 x 5.Total Charged by Mailboxes: $46.99 (Shipping Cost $36.66; Fuel Adjustment $5.40; Final Duty $4.95; Warfage $0.25; Insurance $0.40).Note: The duty was only $4.95.LISA B BEANDevonshire
