Take to the skies this Easter
8 to 13 year olds are invited to take to the skies at the Kids’ Half-Day Flight Camp, starting on Monday, April 3rd.
From Blue Sky Flights at the NATO Hangar in St. David’s, students will head up with Heather, an experienced Commercial Pilot, for a flight tour of Bermuda, giving them the thrill of flying in a small airplane and a view of their houses and schools from overhead, the beauty of Bermuda’s reefs, beaches and forts.
Students will also have a ground school session with Pete, their certified instructor, and view a film showing the journey of their small airplane from Brussels to Bermuda via Iceland, Greenland, Northern Canada, and the US.
The camp will run from 10am until 1pm on Monday, April 3rd, from 2pm until 5pm on Wednesday, April 5th, 10am until 1pm on Monday, April 10th, 2pm until 5pm on Wednesday, April 12th, and 10am until 1pm on Thursday, April 13th.
This is subject to a minimum registration of 5 kids per session.
The cost is $175 per child for a 3 hour camp.

This intensive 2 week course will go over the various social media platforms, review the type of information you should share, how to manage them, and create and deliver reports that tie in on your company’s purpose and mandate.

The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs invite you to the 6th Annual Dr. Pauulu Kamarakafego Memorial Lecture, Bermudian Heartbeats: Of Fishpots, Bonnets, and Wine: The Cultural Legacy of the Palmetto in Bermuda on Tuesday, April 4th.
From 6pm in St. Theresa’s Cathedral Hall, the lecture will be presented by Saskia Wolsak, graduate student researching Ethnobotany, University of British Columbia.

Geared to those new to yoga and/or those wishing to revive their practice and develop a regular routine, the Yoga Centre are offering a Beginner’s Yoga Spring Session starts Thursday, April 6th.
From 5.30pm until 7pm, this 12 week course provides step by step instruction into the practice of yoga where students: gain strength and flexibility; confidence in learning how to do the poses correctly; breathing exercises to calm the body and mind and deepen the asana experience; deep relaxation skills to relieve stress and foster healthy sleep; and, mindfulness to improve focus and concentration. The instructor, an E RYT 500 teacher/trainer through Yoga Alliance and yoga therapist, is equip to work with all student abilities with adaptations for challenges, ensuring individual safety first and foremost. Overall bodily confidence, strength and flexibility are immediate outcomes of this course.

Hosted by the BNG Youth Arts Council, the D.I.G.S Privilege Walk will take place on Friday, April 7th.
D.I.G.S (Diversity, Inclusivity & the Gallery Safe Space) is a series of events hosted by the BNG Youth Arts Council to create an engaging and creative space for teens to express themselves creatively.
From 4pm until 5pm at Bermuda National Gallery, the Privilege Walk will be the first D.I.G.S event and youths aged 11 to 17 are invited to attend a session exploring what privilege looks like.
Every student will receive a participation gift and take-away food will be provided. Gifts are sponsored by Brown & Co and food is sponsored by Pastel & Pastry.

Geared towards parents, home day care providers, teachers/assistants of nurseries, day cares and preschools across Bermuda, the Early Childhood Symposium, with the theme Growing One Step at a Time, will be taking place on Saturday, April 8th.
From 9am until 1pm at Bermuda College, Brain Development in Early Childhood, Speech/Language, Child Development, Nutrition, Multi-sensory Classroom Environments, and Importance of Literacy and How Trauma affects Behaviour in Early Childhood, are all topics that will be explored. The keynote address will be held in The Lecture Theatre #100 and the other topics will be in several rooms adjacent to the Lecture Theatre.

Relieve pain and restore health as the Yoga Centre are offering a Therapeutic Yoga for Low Back Program, starting on Saturday, April 8th.
Running weekly from 3.30pm until 5pm on Saturdays until May 20th, this is a 7-week progressive series for students of all levels, body types and abilities, with a strong focus on individual adaptation of yoga practices to stabilize the low back and pelvis and to help relieve chronic low back tension and pain. The program is based on definitive research recognizing the benefit of therapeutic yoga for the treatment of chronic low back pain.
The cost of the series is $200 and registration opens March 13th.

Bermuda is excited to host the Digicel Bermuda TriFest and ITU Continental Cup on Sunday, April 9th.
The event is an ITU (International Triathlon Union) Continental Cup, and is a draft-legal race over the Sprint distance. ITU Continental Cup races attract some of the best triathletes in the world and are not just limited to elite triathletes from CAMTRI federations; elite and junior triathletes from National Federations outside CAMTRI are eligible and also welcome to enter. As an ITU event, all elite triathletes must register for the race online and must also register through their National Federation to be entered into the ITU System. Age group racing, sponsored by Digicel, take place in the morning followed by the elite races later in the morning.
The Age Group race will be a Sprint Distance Triathlon (750m swim/20km bike/5km run). The team races will be split into Male/Female, Mixed and Corporate events.The age groups will be 16 to 19 year olds, 20 to 29 year olds, 30 to 39 year olds, 40 to 49 years old, 50 to 59 years old, and 60+.
The juniors will use an abridged version of the same course as the elites and the race categories and distances are 7 to 10 year olds (100m swim/5km bike/1km run), 11 to 12 year olds (200m swim/10km bike/2km run), and 13 to 15 year olds (375m swim/10km bike/2.5km run).
The junior races will start at 7am while the age group races will start at 8.15am.

Starting at Bermuda College at 2pm, this year’s course will run through Paget and Warwick over a distance of five miles. This is the perfect opportunity to dust off your walking shoes and get active with the family on a trail through some truly special and historic parts of the island including the Alfred Blackburn Nature Reserve and Salt Kettle.
The Palm Sunday Walk will take approximately 2.5 hours to complete depending on your walking speed and is not suitable for baby strollers or dogs. The event is sponsored by Endurance Reinsurance with refreshments donated by John Barritt & Son Ltd.
