The re-election came during the Union's Seventh Triennial Convention in San Francisco last Saturday night.

After addressing the doctors at the convention Dr. Brown received a standing ovation and kudos for his years of service to the medical profession and for his devotion to matters of health care and public policy, said a UAPD press release.

Dr. Brown received a UAPD award in 1993, which was presented to him at the Sickle Cell Foundation banquet at the Hamilton Princess Hotel last September.

The award was given in recognition of his skill and devotion as a clinical doctor and humanitarian.

The UAPD headquarters is in Oakland, California and represents about 5,000 physicians throughout the US.

It represents private practice doctors in their dealings with health maintenance organisations, and insurance companies, salaried doctors in their negotiations with employers, and both groups with reference to Government imposition concerning the delivery of health care.
