On Saturday, the M/V Bona Fortuna stopped at Five Fathom Hole to discharge the second cook, who was suffering from chest pains. The Norwegian-flagged vessel was bound for Gibraltar from Corpus Christi, Texas. The Polish crew member has since left Bermuda, Meyer Agencies Ltd. reported.

Last Thursday, the M/V Leon stopped at Five Fathom Hole and dropped off a crew member with a suspected broken arm. The Liberian-flagged coal carrier was bound for Israel from Baltimore when she was forced to detour. The Israeli crewmember is still in Bermuda and could require surgery. Meyer handled this medical call as well.

In other shipping news, the container ship Oleander arrived in Hamilton on Monday and discharged 118 dry and 38 refrigerated containers, plus three 40-foot trailers. She sailed for Port Elizabeth, New Jersey on Tuesday, Container Ship Management reported.

The Longtail Express yesterday left Marginal Wharf for Norfolk, Virginia, John S. Darrell & Co. Ltd. reported. The ship had shifted to the US Naval Air Station after discharging seven dry and eight refrigerated containers at Hamilton on Tuesday.

The Somers Isles arrived from Florida on Monday and discharged 70 containers, including three refrigerated ones. Also unloaded were 402 rolls of newsprint for The Royal Gazette and one bundle of steel, Meyer reported.

Somers Isles is to sail today.

Bermuda Islander arrived in Hamilton on Tuesday and discharged 72 containers, including five refrigerated ones, and one boat. She sailed on Tuesday for Virginia.

The Panama-registered car ship Nada V is expected to arrive from St. Croix tomorrow and discharge 139 cars and 74 cases of parts before sailing the same day for the Bahamas, its agent John S. Darrell said.

The gravel ship M/V Tinnes arrived at St. George's on Tuesday and sailed yesterday, Meyer reported. The Norwegian-flagged vessel arrived from Nova Scotia and returned to New Brunswick.

An American frigate made a short fuel stop at HMS Malabar yesterday. The USS Underwood , an Oliver Perry class frigate, was heading east from Norfolk, Virginia, the Royal Navy reported.

The arrival of a small cruise ship next May was confirmed by Harnett and Richardson Ltd. this week. The Russian ship Akademik Ioffe , chartered by Blyth and Company Travel of Canada, is to call at the Island on the way across the Atlantic Ocean from Florida. The ship carries 79 passengers.
