The company has launched its annual kite campaign and will visit 24 primary schools over the next two weeks.

Kiteman Cornell Dunkley and a representative from BELCO's communications department will present the BELCO Bird Slide show to more than 1,500 primary one and primary two students.

The show focuses on electricity and safe kite flying. In conjunction with this year's campaign there will also be a poster competition.

The competition is open to all Primary One and Primary Two students and the rules will be distributed during school visits. They can also be picked up at BELCO's offices.

There are two categories -- Best Safety Message and Most Beautiful. Up to two winners per class will be selected and then winners from both categories will be judged for best poster overall.

All winners will receive BELCO Bird kites and the overall winner will be invited to BELCO with his or her classmates for a special presentation with the bird. And the principal of the winner's school will receive a cheque for $500 to be put toward a project for the winner's class.
