The Bermuda Electric Light Company (Belco) have been granted Planning permission to build two additional diesel engines. Belco spokesman Linda Smith-Wilson said the project was expected to be finished by the summer of 2005.
"There will be two additional 14 megawatt medium speed diesel engines," said Mrs Smith-Wilson. "They will be adjacent to the last two engines that were built and will use the same stack."
The Department of Planning have granted planning permission only and Belco will have to apply for a building permit and they will have to obtain all the necessary approvals and licences from both the Department of the Environment and the Ministry of Works and Engineering.
