They are upset the Albuoys Point club put up a patio awning without their permission.

And, despite giving the club retroactive permission, the Development Applications Board made its feelings known.

Future developments "of this nature'' must be subject of an application, the Board warned in its ruling.

It continued: "The Board wishes to further advise that this structure has been considered on the merits of this particular site, and does not imply a general acceptance of this type of construction throughout Bermuda.'' The DAB stated it was only giving planning permission. A separate building permit had to be applied for and approved.

In other planning news, Bermuda Helicopters Ltd got the go-ahead to put up a steel framed vinyl clad aircraft hangar at the Civil Air Terminal.

Planners stressed permission expired on September 30, 1996.

After that date, the building should be removed and the land "restored to its former condition'', the DAB stated.

Mr. Donald Hassell also won permission for an English-style restaurant and pub in South Road, Smiths.

The DAB said it considered 50 parking spaces at the site would be adequate.
