Top two pulling ahead
St George’s and Devonshire Colts continued their promotion push last weekend, scoring 11 goals between them with wins over Hamilton Parish and Wolves.
Wolves, who handed St George’s their first loss of the season the previous weekend, were no match for Devonshire Colts who scored six goals in a game for the second straight game in beating Wolves 6-2 at Devonshire Recreation Club.
Chemari Henry netted four times after Seanoj Mitchell opened the scoring in the seventh minute. Henry scored the next four goals, in the 31st, 46th, 68th and 78th minutes, before Rahzir Smith Jones closed out the scoring in the 85th minute.
Jared Peniston scored both goals for Wolves, in the nineteenth and 75th minutes.
St George’s remain in first place with a 3-0 win over their tenants Hamilton Parish at Wellington Oval, where Alleyne Francis gave them the lead late in the first half before penalties by Jahron Dickinson and Wayne Broadley late in the second half sealed the win for the East Enders.
Devonshire Colts now lead third-place Vasco da Gama by five points after their game against Flanagan’s Onions at Bernard Park was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
