National track to be used as ‛safe environment’ for junior cyclists

The 600 metres track at North Field, National Sports Centre, will be closed to walkers and joggers every Saturday morning as part of a new training partnership with the Bermuda Bicycle Association’s junior programme.

The move will see the track closed for an hour from 9am to create a secure environment to allow both new cyclists and existing junior members to train.

“The NSC is committed to providing spaces for our national sports governing bodies to develop young talent and provide opportunities to prepare them for local and international competition,” Craig Tyrrell, the operations manager, said.

“We are delighted to partner with the BBA on this initiative and thank the public in advance for any inconvenience this one hour each week may cause, as it does mean that the North field will be inaccessible to walkers and joggers and other recreational users during these times.”
