Bail granted to man accused to importing cocaine
A foreign national accused of importing more than 700 grams of cocaine to Bermuda was yesterday granted bail.Dave Trotman, 39, from Barbados, was charged last month with importing a controlled substance and possessing a controlled substance with intent to supply.Both charges relate to an incident which took place in St George’s on December 18, and involves 741 grams of cocaine.While Mr Trotman was initially remanded by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner, lawyer Kenville Savoury yesterday made a successful bail application.Mr Warner released Mr Trotman on $25,000 bail with a like surety, ordering him to surrender his travel documents and report daily to the Somerset Police Station.He must also provide the courts with a fixed address in Bermuda and must ask the court’s permission to change that address.
