Stormy weather delays cruise ships
several hours yesterday.
All of the Tuesday arrivals were late by between one and six hours as a storm in the north west Atlantic slowed their progress.
The Nordic Empress and Norwegian Majesty both arrived six hours late, docking at 4 p.m., after their journeys. The Nordic Empress , with 1,339 passengers, docked in Dockyard and Norwegian Majesty in St. George's'.
And the Horizon arrived late in Hamilton on Monday, bypassing its regular stop at St. George's. It brought in 1,106 people.
It was followed by the Zenith , with 1,273 people, which will move from Hamilton to St. George's weather permitting.
John S. Darrell reported the late arrival of the Pacific Princess carrying 625 people.
On Monday the Crown Dynasty departed for Baltimore after its weekend stay. It had 372 people on board.
This Friday, there will be two new cruise callers in Hamilton.
Coming from the Azores, the Silver Shadow will arrive at Hamilton on Friday, departing the next day for New York.
And the Regal Empress will anchor on Friday, until the Nordic Empress leaves, making space for it alongside Front Street. It departs on Sunday to return to Georgia.
On the cargo side, the Bermuda Islander arrived on Thursday with 111 containers, including 21 refrigerated and one boat. It sailed the following day.
The Somer's Isle is due in on Sunday.
Container Ship Management reported the arrival of the Stadt Kiel on Monday. It brought 140 containers, 37 refrigerated and one boat. The vessel, which is a replacement for the Oleander whilst it is in dry dock, sails today.
