Tonnes of concrete bound for local docks

More than 7,000 tonnes of cement will be unloaded today for Bermuda's builders from a Venezuelan container ship.

Shipping Agents John S. Darrell said the 390-foot MV Frida from Pentigalete, Venezuela, will deliver 7,081 metric tonnes for the Bermuda Cement Company at the commercial berth in Dockyard around 2 p.m.

The Bermuda Islander , from Salem, New Jersey, arrives tomorrow, unloading 103 containers including 12 reefers at Hamilton docks.

The Somers Isles sails for Bermuda tonight from Florida, due to arrive on Sunday.

And the Oleander , from Port Elizabeth, New Jersey, will deliver 114 dry containers, 29 reefers, six trailers and 18 cars when she drops anchor in Hamilton harbour at 4 a.m. the same day.

Meanwhile, agents at Meyer's said the Ukrainian tall ship Khersones , with 121 on board, takes its sail-training mission to Ponta Delgada in the Azores today after six nights at Ordnance Island, St. George's.

The Isle of Man-registered Nolizwe , a huge cargo ship, has been in Bermuda all week for repairs. She was en route from South Africa to the US. The 600-foot, 20,000-tonne container ship arrived at Dockyard from Cape Town last Wednesday. She sailed out for Newark on Sunday.
