Buttons happy in new home
adopted following the death of his owner, Leon Edmead.
Buttons, a mixed breed 10-year-old who is probably Bermuda's most popular pet, spent about three weeks at the Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals following Mr. Edmead's death in April after he suffered a stroke.
The SPCA has been flooded with calls about Buttons, and Shelter Chairman Andrew Madeiros, confirmed that Buttons had found a new home with a friend of the family. Because of the SPCA's code of confidentiality, the identity of the family was not disclosed. "He boarded with us until a friend of the family took him,'' said Dr. Madeiros.
"We went to somebody who he was familiar with. Certainly we're very comfortable with where he went.'' Dr. Madeiros said Buttons was at the SPCA for about three weeks in total before and after the funeral of Mr. Edmead whose family organised the adoption.
"Certainly we had lots of calls from people wanting to know how he was doing,'' said the chairman. "He never went into our adoption area, that was organised by the family.
