Important advisories for residents
During Hurricane Igor, the public is urged to tune into the Emergency Broadcast Station, FM 100.1, which is will be the only official source of advisories. The Emergency Measures Organisation has also issued a list of emergency numbers:

• For televised weather updates: CableVision channel 4, and WOW channel 100.
The Bermuda Telephone Company (BTC) has also posted its post storm emergency number, 292 2226 (to hear a listing of reported outage areas), or 295 1001 to report an outage in listed areas.

The current observation will be given at 9771, marine forecast at 9772 and the latest warnings and tropical information at 9773. Igor can also be tracked from the site www.stormpulse.com.
The EMO advises that during the storm, residents keep clear of windows and doors. Have a strong room in the house, and do not leave shelter unless instructed to evacuate. Avoid flooded roads and bridges and exposed stretches of coastal road. Avoid the temptation to sightsee at disaster areas.
Store water in advance using bathtubs, buckets and clean containers; keep fridges and freezers closed for as long as possible during power outages, and store perishable foods in ice coolers if power cuts last longer than a few hours.
