Green light for Stoplight Party tonight

Colour-coded: Guests at last year's Stoplight Party dressed in colours selected to reflect their relationship status - green for single, yellow for on the fence and red for those in committed relationships. Organisers Volcanic are throwing the second annual Stoplight party on Saturday at the Hamilton Princess.

Building on the success of last year’s first Stoplight Party, the organisers are bringing it back with a bang tonight.

Volcanic party organisers Jon Legere and Matthew Strong said the aim of the party is for attendees to show their true colours at first glance when entering the Fairmont Hamilton venue.

Patrons should wear red if they are taken (in a committed relationship), yellow if they are on the fence or green if they are single.

The event is not intended for cliques and wallflowers, they said, but for getting out and mingling with new people.

“If they have on the right colour, get up and take a chance!” said Mr. Strong.

“People often feel intimidated when walking into a bar or a party where everyone else seems to be already in their own cliques or as couples — no need here, a green light means go!” added Mr. Legere.

The party will take place in the hotel’s Princess Room, which has been converted into a nightclub-type atmosphere.

For the smokers — provided the weather holds up — you can go out onto the Regency Terrace where there will be chimineas and a chill out vibe.

Mr. Legere added that his aim, as always, is to get people to integrate and interact a little. And to help this along a bit, there will be the Bacardi Special game.

When you enter you will receive a word. Later in the evening if you match that word with someone else who has the same word visit the Bacardi Bar for your prize.

Music will be provided by the Dirkistan Freedom Fighters, The Butcha, Volcanic’s NYC Resident DJ, and Skilatchi.

“The DJs will be calling out your cards too — if they call your ticket rush the dance floor and win your free drinks,” said Mr. Legere.

“As an added bonus Volcanic has flown in The Butcha — the resident NYC Volcanic DJ. One of Manhattan’s top DJs and record producers, The Butcha promises to chop up phat beats!”

Meredith Andrews Photography will be running a Kissing Booth with photos for those who want a little keepsake.
