MARRIAGES are for better or worse, or so the saying goes. But most visitors who travel to Bermuda to exchange their vows would like to avoid the "worst" part from happening. As has occurred in the past, this can include having your "big day" blown away by a hurricane.
Travelers, a US-based insurance company, realised that weddings come with a great financial commitment and came up with a unique insurance policy — the Wedding Protector Plan, which provides coverage, with no deductible, for a variety of unfortunate occurrences associated with a wedding event.
Coverage is provide if a hurricane causes the necessary and unavoidable cancellation, or postponement of the event and also includes postponement for withdrawal of military leave, forfeited and lost deposits, extra expenses associated with special attire, transportation, photographs and entertainment expenses.
Top wedding claims, according to the company, include damage to the wedding attire, mishaps with event photography, cancellation due to illness or bereavement and no-shows by contracted vendors.
The Wedding Protector Plan covers events in the US, Puerto Rico, Canada, the UK, Mexico, Bermuda, the Caribbean, including the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos, and cruise ships leaving from any port within those territories — excluding Cuba and Haiti.
