Federal Yukon crewman had appendicitis

A ship carrying fertiliser from Russia to Mississippi was diverted to Bermuda due to a medical emergency.The Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre said the 20,659-ton bulk carrier Federal Yukon travelled here on Tuesday around 11pm, so that a doctor could examine a crewman.The Indian national was working as a navigating officer. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, suffering from what was believed to be a case of appendicitis.Federal Yukon left Bermuda at 11.27pm on Tuesday, with the crewman remaining at the hospital.He was yesterday said to be “stable and comfortable”.
