Omari Gordon today admitted to discharging a firearm in Middletown.

But Gordon, 27, denied using a firearm to resist or prevent arrest on the same day on November 29, 2008.

The incident took place after Police chased a motorcyclist to Middletown in Pembroke. The cyclist – Gordon — abandoned the vehicle and ran up an embankment, firing a single shot.

He then fled to avoid Police capture and was on the run for more than a year and was found on January 10 at a Sandys home, following tip-off from a member of the public.

Gordon, of Derwent Lane, Devonshire, was represented by defence lawyer Charles Richardson at this morning’s arraignment session at Supreme Court.

The Crown accepted the pleas, but asked that the second charge lie on file and not be proceeded with at this time.

Chief Justice Richard Ground ordered a social inquiry report for Gordon, who will appear back in court on November 1.
