UK PR firm in place by June

The Department of Tourism will pick a UK public relations firm by June.Yesterday, Minister Patrice Minors said the Department had put the contract out to tender.She added: “After more than four years of association with our Public Relations company, Rooster Inc, I can also report that this contract has been put out to public tender and it is our intention to make a decision on the appointment of the Public Relations agency of record by the end of May 2011.”The Department is looking for a company that can increase coverage of Bermuda in UK media, raise awareness about the Island in the region and ultimately drive visitation to the Island.The request for proposal, printed in the Official Gazette, stated: “We are seeking a partner who can demonstrate a high level of proficiency and energy. Ultimately, success will be measured in accordance with the agency’s ability to deliver business. Media exposure, response and conversion rates are key with the greater emphasis being placed on conversion and visitation.”Mrs Minors said she believed Rooster Inc had bid for the contract again.The company has clients such as Austravel, Channel Islands, Las Vegas, Tunisia and Park Plaza and has represented Bermuda since 2006.It played in integral role in the launch of Bermuda-pink taxis on the streets of London. Last year they also received a contract for sales and marketing of the Island.Speaking in general of Bermuda’s UK presence, Mrs Minors said: “We achieved significant success with the UK winter compliments promotion, have heightened our awareness campaign with radio commercials tagged with our key partner British Airways and we are currently preparing to host seven major stations from the UK who will broadcast their shows live from the Island on the week of May 24.”
