Volunteers needed to recreate Bermuda dwelling
Updated: Apr 21, 2012 07:26 AM
Volunteers are being sought for a day of work trying to recreate Bermuda’s earliest dwellings. From 10am today, people are encouraged to turn up at the 1612 Carter House, for the reconstruction project led by St David’s Historical Society. They will be asked to erect vertical posts mainly using natural materials available to the 17th century settlers; anyone interested is invited to watch, or join the lunch break at the Black Horse. The end product will be a home like those settlers took shelter in 400 years ago, out of raw tree trunks, rocks and gravel. For more information, e-mail Rick Spurling at rspurling@logic.bm
