Cornerstone showcases versatile artist Miss Terious...ikz
By Sara WestheadCornerstone Bible Fellowship will be hosting a special event for singles aged 25 and above on Sunday evening featuring spoken word artist, Miss Terious Janet…ikz (pronounced mysterious genetics).“Miss Terious Janette…ikz is simply a young woman in love with her Saviour Jesus Christ and has decided to use every gift He has given her for His glory. Few can mirror her raw energy, with an array of talents, which span from poetic expression, singing, rapping, dancing, and even playing multiple instruments,” explained Cornerstone pastor, Gary Simons. The evening will be held at Cornerstone’s location on Church Street, beginning at 7:30pm, where Janette…ikz will share her own personal convictions on relationships through the art of spoken word.“Impressive is an understatement when considering Janette…ikz’s artistic strengths. Its staggering to fathom her ability to attempt to perfect her writing while co-owning a performing arts company and also being the worship leader at her home church.“Life dealt her some very strenuous blows at a very early age. She went through sexual, physical, and verbal abuse. Yet amidst what she describes as this brilliant storm, Janette…ikz has found a way to penetrate countless lives with her God given gifts, channeling all that energy and using it to touch others.”Janette…ikz has been performing for more than 17 years, but her talent really caught the spotlight when joined with P4CM, the Passion 4 Christ Movement. Her video, ‘I Will Wait For You’, which can be viewed on YouTube, has had nearly two million views. She has been featured on the covers of Testify Sister and SpokenVizions magazines, has appeared on BET and the 700 Club, and performed with Chris Tomlin, Toby Mac, Francis Chan, Lecrae, Donny McClurkin, Kierra Sheard, Yolanda Adams and Kirk Franklin, amongst others.“Janette…ikz is not afraid to push all limits in an attempt to restore souls to Christ, reminding people that we have access to the power of transformation through Christ and that which was meant for evil can truly turn out to be for our good,” Pastor Simons said.“She brings a powerful and relevant message for all who have been through difficult times. When people watch her talent, you can’t help but get ‘caught-up’ with her original poetic talent in spoken word, but also her heart for people.”Those attending the Sunday evening event will also enjoy a variety of live music and talent. For those who cannot attend the evening event, Miss Terious Janette…ikz will also be sharing during Cornerstone’s regular morning service at 10am, held at the Ruth Seaton James Auditorium.
