Darren's firm does the splits!
THE 'Sew' and the 'Heel' have separated the business once known as Heel Sew Quik.
The alteration aspect of the business has relocated under new ownership to Laffan Street near Pasta Basta, and is now known as Sew Quik.
Heel Sew Quik's original premises on Church Street now operate as a shoe repair cum luggage store under the name Heel Quik.
The split was an amicable one, according to Darren Booth (pictured), who owned and ran the two businesses as one for nearly eight years.
"I basically sold it to the people who worked for me," he explained. "It was time for us to either expand it or get rid of it. It was a good business and was still making money but I had to decide between that and (selling) luggage.
"I decided it was more advantageous for me to sell to the people who were working for me under the condition that they found new premises."
Through its previous affiliation with Heel Quik and the excellent service it has provided over the years, Sew Quik should do well, he added.
"They're buying customer loyalty so it was nice for them to be able to keep the same name as (Heel Sew Quik) had been in business for a long time. It worked out well for both (parties). They now have their own business and it enabled me to move in the direction I wanted to go."
Heel Quik remains at 34 Church Street, Hamilton.
