CableVision yesterday blamed bad weather for around 100 outages on Monday.

The company said problems included including high winds and lightning.

There were also three reports between Monday and yesterday of trucks hitting cable lines.

The remaining calls were from customers in areas where CableVision's fibre-optic crews are installing new lines.

Most of the problems have now been cleared up and CableVision said they would be phoning affected customers last night to ensure service is now satisfactory.

CableVision customer solutions manager Alan Smith said: "Fortunately since we have so many fibre optic nodes now installed, most outages are confined to a much smaller number of customers than in the past.

"In addition, as we install new lines, we are also placing them at higher elevations to keep them out of the way of overloaded trucks."

"Customers in areas where we are installing new fibre optic lines should expect temporary interruptions in service between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m."

The company posts the list of streets where crews are working on Channel Three, on their website (www.cablevision.bm) and on its voice-mail system. Customers can dial 292-5544 and then press "four" to hear the list.
