Playwright offering instruction in the Meisner acting technique
Drama teacher and playwright Patricia Nesbitt is to hold workshops for people interested in taking their acting skills to a higher level. Her hope is to pass on lessons she learned at the True Acting Institute in Oregon under Larry Silverberg, an expert in the Sanford Meisner Technique.Mr Meisner was an American actor known for his unorthodox teaching techniques. Mrs Nesbitt became interested in the Meisner Technique during a 1997 workshop in New York.“In that course I got a sense that this technique was so honest,” she said. “A lot of people don’t live an honest life. It really does encourage you to be honest with people. I loved it.”Former Bermuda music teacher Granville Oldham is collaborating with Ms Nesbitt on the project, offering his expertise via Skype. The workshops are for people of all ages. They run over 15 weeks, and cost $165.For more information visit Mrs Nesbitt’s Facebook page or send an e-mail, patricia.nesbitt@gmail.com.
