Four on drug smuggling charges
Four men have been charged in Magistrates’ Court with conspiring to import up to worth $250,000 of drugs.They are accused of conspiring with 26-year-old Shanae Vanderpool, who was caught in December at LF Wade International Airport with 2.5 kilos of cannabis strapped to her body. Vanderpool, of Fenton Drive, Pembroke, was sentenced in January to two years behind bars after admitting to smuggling the drugs from Canada.In court today were Psanto Eve, 20, of Princess Street, Pembroke; Dahlano Simons, 23, of Fenton Drive; Royunde Stevens Cyrus, 22, of Dudley Hill, Paget, and Jahkio Williams, 23, of Riviera Road, Southampton.The four are charged with conspiring with Vanderpool, as well as each other and with others not before the court, between a date unknown and December 21, 2010, to import cannabis. In Vanderpool’s trial the drugs were said to have been worth between $115,000 and $258,600, depending on the means of sale.All four men denied the charges.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner denied bail and remanded them into custody. They will return to court on April 13 for a trial date to be set.
