The small dog, which was tied outside the residence, suffered a deep cut on its right front leg and was found covered in blood after the early morning raid last week. The property was ransacked but nothing appeared to have been stolen.

A vet has treated the animal, which the house owner had been looking after for a friend.

A visitor staying at the Grotto Bay hotel was the victim of thieves who took cash and personal papers.

The man reported his wallet containing cash and documents had been removed overnight Wednesday. Some of the items were recovered nearby but the wallet remained missing.
