Post Office plans turned down

The Post Office Cottage Trust made the application but the DAB said: "The Proposal involves an encroachment into an area designated Woodland Reserve and therefore the application is prohibited under...the Bermuda Plan 1992 Planning Statement.'' The DAB also submitted that the development would cause measurable damage to the Woodland Reserve which is forbidden under the Development and Planning Act 1974.

HAWKINS ISLAND PLANS SUBMITTED PLN Hawkins Island plans submitted Plans to demolish all the existing commercial buildings on Hawkins Island in the Great Sound and replace them with two residential/recreational buildings have been submitted to the Development Applications Board (DAB).

The property is owned by a local family and administered by the Rosebud Trust.

Plans have also been submitted for a woodland management plan which would provide amenity space and access around dwellings as well as water catchments.

TOADS BARRIER PLN Toads barrier The Development Applications Board (DAB) has approved the erection of a Toad barrier around a freshwater pond on Nonsuch Island.

It is hoped that the barrier will discourage toads from using the pond and stop them invading endangered Skink territory.
