Police have arrested a 20-year-old Sandys man in connection with a shooting incident at Mount Hill, Pembroke.Officers attended the area after receiving reports of gunfire at around 10:30am.Using a stolen motocross cycle, the suspects then led officers on a high-speed chase to the western end of the Island, causing a schools lockdown.“Out of an abundance of caution, schools in the Somerset area were advised to keep their students inside during the police pursuit of the stolen motorcycle, but those schools shortly returned to normal operation,” said a police spokesman.Detectives are now eager to speak with anyone who saw “two males on a scooter type motorcycle in the Mount Hill area of Pembroke entering Mount Hill from the Berkeley Road side” at about 10am.The men were wearing dark coloured clothing and black or dark coloured helmets.Police would also like to hear from anyone who saw the rider of a scrambler type motorcycle travelling west on Middle Road from Devonshire, Paget, Warwick, Southampton and Sandys parish “and more specifically in the Somerset area between 10.15am and 11.30am”.There were no injuries related to the shooting.Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 247-1079 or the Crime Stoppers hotline on 1-800-8477.
