Nick Jones fired a four-under-par 68 at the Redtail Golf Club in Orlando, Florida in a Moonlight tour event, finishing second just a shot behind local golfer Paul Curry.It was Jones’ first event after his win at the Daytona Open on March 26 and 27.On the front nine he carded two-under and then birdied 10, 11 and 12 to go five-under through 12.But a three-putt bogey on the 17th cost him a chance to win the event. He also finished the back nine at two-under.Jones is using his vacation week out of the Golf Academy to play some one-day events.He was due to compete yesterday at the Falcon’s Fire GC, and is then playing a two-day event,starting today at the Timacuan golf course on the Florida Players Tour.It’s at this course, on May 19, where he will attempt to qualify for the US Open.Jones’ travels prevented him from returning home to play in this week’s BPGA Stroke Play Championship at Tucker’s Point.
