Lewis finishes eighth in final

Bermuda’s Jessica Lewis finished eighth in the T-53 100 metre wheelchair race at the 2012 Paralympics in London on Sunday.Lewis, who is the first athlete from Bermuda to compete in wheelchair racing in the Paralympics, posted a time 19.38 seconds, just outside her personal best of 18:51.The race was won by Lisha Huang of China in 16:42 with compatriot Hongzhuan coming in second with a personal best of 16:90.Angela Ballard of Australia was third.Lewis posted on her Facebook page after her race: “Wow what a feeling it was to race in front of 80,000 people. I can’t even describe how amazing it felt to wear Bermuda on my back and race among the top women in the world. Thanks for all the support and kind words everyone. My Paralympic debut was a success.”Lewis is next action in the 200m on Thursday at 4:49pm Bermuda Time.She will also compete in the 400m on Saturday
