Police seeking witnesses to dangerous high speed chase

Police had to abandon a dangerous high speed chase on Friday morning after the car they were pursuing sped to faster than 150 km/h.

However the car, a silver BMW, was later discovered unoccupied and subsequently impounded.

The chase began around 1.45 a.m. Friday when Police on mobile patrol on Trimingham Hill in Paget saw the BMW travelling west into Hamilton. Based on information received about the suspected driver of the car, the Police turned around and gave chase.

The BMW immediately accelerated and the Police activated their lights and siren.

The Police chased the car along East Broadway, up Lane Hill, along Middle Road, down Corkscrew Hill, over Trimingham Hill and along South Road. When the BMW sped to more than 150km/h by Brighton Hill in Devonshire, however, Police ? bearing in mind the safety of other road users ? abandoned the chase.

The car was later found unoccupied at a Poinciana Crescent, Devonshire residence. It was impounded and taken to the Police Impound Yard.
