Free childbirth classes starting next month
Parents-to-be are invited to take part in a series of classes being run by the Department of Health starting next month.
Topics covered will include stages of labour, relaxation techniques and breastfeeding advice.
The free classes will run every Friday at 12.15pm to 1.30pm for seven weeks, starting on May 2, at the Department’s clinic on Victoria Street, Hamilton.
There will also be a tour of the maternity ward at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital on Saturday, June 28 at 2pm.
A flyer for the classes says: “All classes are taught by experienced healthcare professionals. Loose, comfortable and practical clothing is suggested for floor exercises and techniques.
“It is our goal to promote the well-being of mothers and their babies. Ensure you have a healthy pregnancy. Bring your support person and learn new things together for yourself and your baby.”
