Rampage cost man $300

he damaged four window panes, used offensive words, violently resisted arrest and damaged an officer's wrist watch.

Ronald O. Joyiens of Albert Row pleaded guilty to the charges. Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, told the court that at 4.55 p.m. on Saturday Police were called to Olive Lane in Sandys because of a report that a man was trying to enter a house.

"On arriving at the house Police heard Joyiens shouting profanities to the woman inside, who was his estranged wife,'' Insp. Duffy said. "She appeared to be very frightened.

"After seeing the Police, Joyiens continued to shout demanding to be let in.

"Mrs. Joyiens showed the Police four smashed window panes that were broken by Joyiens after attempting to reach her.'' Insp. Duffy added that when officers tried to arrest Joyiens, he punched both of them. During the struggle, Joyiens broke the strap on one of the Police officer's watch, which was beyond repair.

Insp. Duffy also said that Joyiens was in breech of an expedited order that his wife requested, requiring him to keep away from her.

However, Joyiens said he had no idea that there was such a document against him.

After being arrested, Joyiens was taken to the Somerset Police Station. When asked by Police why he acted in such a way he replied: "It was a drink that caused my behaviour.'' Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Joyiens $100 for damaging four window panes -- $40 of which will compensate the damage -- $50 for offensive words, $100 for violently resisting arrest and $50 damaging the wrist watch, $30 of which will compensate for the damage.
