A Green Heron waits quietly for a bite of breakfast off the dock at Crow Lane, in Paget, Friday morning. A regular winter visitor, and spring and fall transient visitor, the Green Heron used to arrive in Bermuda in small numbers, but is now breeding here as well, Dr. David Wingate told The Royal Gazette. The bird begins its winter migration in North America, heading for the warmer climes of the West Indies; a flight path that brings them over Bermuda. The Green Heron is the smallest of the heron family to be seen in Bermuda, added Dr. Wingate.
